This year’s the presentation had a write up in the Newbury Weekly News:
CLASSIC car owners have raised tens of thousands of pounds for Blood Cancer UK.
West Berkshire Classic Vehicle Club has donated £13,791.86 to the charity following its most recent event at Newbury Showground this summer.
It takes the group’s fundraising total, over the last 33 years, to a staggering £248,133.
A cheque presentation was made to Lewis Kaler from Blood Cancer UK, at The Club Bar & Lounge in Cheap Street, Newbury.
During his visit Mr Kaler shared with the club some facts, figures and information about the work carried out during the 33 years that the classic car club has been supporting the charity, including that the survival rate for child-hood blood cancer 30 years ago was one in 10 but now stands at nine in 10 thanks to research funded entirely by donations such as those from WBCVC.
WBCVC chairman Mike Kent said: “When you hear figures like that it makes the whole thing worthwhile. “Our committee, and club members put a great deal of time and effort into organising and running the show, and I would like to thank them all for their support in helping us to achieve such a wonderful result.”
